The pump is relatively quiet, with approximately 45-50 decibels of noise. A normal conversation is about 60 decibels.
The pump was designed to fit most nursing bras. The bra keeps the pump in place, creating an airtight seal for the pump to work effectively.
If you plan to use a regular bra to pump, you may want to get a larger bra than what you typically wear so the pump can fit comfortably.
The pump comes with 24mm and 28mm breast shields. Start with the 24mm, and if it's not comfortable or you can't get a proper suction, move on to the 28mm shield.
The size of the shield depends on the size of your nipple, measured at the base (refer to the diagram below).
A good fit would be a shield size that is 2mm - 4mm larger than the nipple. That's a good rule of thumb.
Remember, breasts tend to change size as time goes on. Try changing shield sizes to get a better fit if the current shield size becomes uncomfortable or you're not getting a proper suction.
In addition to 24mm and 28mm flanges, you can purchase flange inserts (18mm, 22mm, 26mm) to help you get a better fit and suction.
